Navy vows to flush out oil thieves, pirates
WARRI—Nigerian Navy has ended its two days retreat at its Nigerian Navy Engineering College, Sapele,
Delta State, with an assurance to crush illegal bunkering activities and related crimes on the nations waterways.

Chief of Naval Staff, CNS, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas gave the assurance in his address, saying that the Navy had acquired two more operational patrol vessels and 200 locally built flat bottom boats to enhance its operations.
He added that two more newly built 35 meter SDBs from France will be injected into the Nigerian naval fleet.
These acquisitions, he said will greatly enhance Nigerian Navy’s ability to perform its statutory roles.
He said the theme of this year’s retreat Optimizing operational availability of the NN fleet, was apt as the Navy was focused on improving operational effectiveness.
Meanwhile, the Joint Task Force, JTF, now Operation Delta Safe, ODS, has crushed several illegal refineries in Yeye community, Burutu Local Government Area Delta State.
